Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be Mondays, July 7 & 21, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, July 23, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Pat’s Fabrics and Collectibles will open Tuesday, July 15, at 10 a.m. Featuring an assorted collection of fabrics for home decorating, crafts, quilting and fashions, and priced affordably. Pat’s Fabrics is located at 1210 Anderson Ave., across from Ketchum Carpet. Open Tuesday Friday 10-6, and Saturday 10-2. The Chamber will sponsor a Ribbon Cutting Thursday, July 24 at 10 a.m. BBA to host Connected TN discussion: Deanna Ward, West Tennessee eCommunity Project Manager for Connected Tennessee, will be the guest speaker for the monthly meeting of the Brownsville Business Association (BBA) Tuesday, July 15, at 5:30 p.m. Ward will discuss the Connected TN initiative and how small businesses can benefit from broadband availability. The public in invited. All members are urged to attend. The meeting will be held at the Delta Room, 703 East Main St., behind Backyard Barbecue. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Vacation Bible School: Christ Church of Brownsville will hold its Vacaion Bible School beginning Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. All children are invited to participate. The VBS will include activities that teach about Jesus, hamburgers and hot dogs plus snacks, games and fun times, too. Everything is free. For more information, call Jason Velotta at 772-9933. Third Annual Kids Day: 3rd Annual Kids Day will be held Wed., July 16, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at Volunteer Park. Free games, food, water slides, jumpers,face painting & etc. National guard will be there with their big trucks,and rock wall. Police will be there with info for children. We expect about 800 children for the day. Parks and Recreation will grill hamburgers and hot dogs for volunteers that help with the children. Vacation Bible School: If your children missed "Outrigger Island" Vacation Bible School or if you would like them to experience it again this summer, bring them to Holly Gove Baptist Church. There will be a kick-off Luau Saturday, July 12, from 11-1 with games, drawings and a free lunch. Parents are welcome. VBS will be Monday through Friday, july 14-18, from 9 a.m. until noon. The Hawaiian theme, music and crafts are fun and the Bible teaching is excellent. Classes for three years old (by September 1, 2007) to sixth grade. Refreshments provided. Van transportation is available by calling the church. Early drop-off before work is also available, but parents must make prior arrangements with the church. Curves Customer Appreciation Day: Curves of Brownsville, 140 S. Dupree, invites all its current, former and potential members to Customer Appreciation Day! VBS at Harmony Baptist: Harmony Baptist Church, in the Hillville/Eurekaton Community, invites children pre-school through 6th grade to Cactus Canyon, this year's Vacation Bible School June 29-July 2. Ken-Ten Truck & Tractor Pull: The Ken-Ten Truck & Tractor Pull is back again this year and will be held Saturday, July 19 beginning at 7 p.m. The pull will be held at the field on Hwy. 76 South beside Pictsweet. Admission is $10 per person and kids 5 and under get in free. All proceeds will benefit Park of Dreams, an all-inclusive park added at Volunteer Park. Start-ups, full-time or part-time businesses are eligible. Seating is limited and on a first come first serve basis. This event is sponsored by the TSBDC (JSCC) and the B-HC Chamber fo Commerce. eCommunity Leadership Meeting: Haywood County eCommunity Leadership Team will meet on Tuesday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m., in the basement of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, 121 West Main. The Leadership Team will be finalizing the community benchmark and planning of Haywood County's broadband infrastructure and support applications. The community's input is very important. Anyone is invited to attend and take part in this process. This is an initiative of Connected Tennessee and part of the Governor's Trail to Innovation. Caregiver Support Group: Cindy Wilkins from the Haywood County Health Dept. will host a Caregivers seminar and support group Monday, July 28, at the Brownsville Senior Center beginning at 10 a.m. All caregivers are invited to attend. Stuff the Bus: The Town of Stanton will sponsor a Stuff the Bus event on Saturday, July 26. Residents are asked to bring school supply items to the Farmers Market in Downtown Stanton. Supplies will be "stuffed" onto a school bus. The bus willthen be delivered to Haywood County schools for distribution to needy children in our community.
