Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be Mondays, September 8 & 22, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack.

Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, September 24, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Golf Tournament: Now is the time to sign up to be a part of the 2008 Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center’s Annual Golf Tournament that will be held on September 11, 2008 at the Brownsville Country Club. All Proceeds benefit the Haywood County Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center. Teams will compete in an 18-hole, Four-man scramble that begins at 11:00 a.m. with registration and lunch provided with a 12:00 shotgun start. Mulligans will be available for $5 each. The fee for a four man team is $240.00. Businesses or individuals can sponsor a hole for $100. Registration forms are available at the Carl Perkins Center in Haywood County or First South Bank. The Quest for Authentic Manhood: Zion Baptist Church will present a 24-week Robert Lewis series called "Quest for Authentic Manhood." Classes will be on Tuesday evenings, beginning Sept. 16, at 6 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall of Zion Baptist Church. Come and take an adventure and realize how to be a better father, son and friend. National Cub Cadet Dealer Show: More than 1100 visitors and guests from all over the nation will be in Brownsville on Tuesday, September 16 for the outdoor dealer demo show. Cub Cadet dealers will visit the factory and test product on the lawn. Please note that this event is not open to the public.

Haywood County Master Gardeners: The Haywood County Master Gardeners will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 6 p.m., at the County Extension office, 100 South Wilson. All HCMGs are encouraged to attend this important meeting. On the agenda are the upcoming Scarecrow Contest and other MG projects. Hatchie Fall Fest Committee Meeting: The Hatchie Fall Fest Committee will meet Monday, Sept. 8, at 5:30 p.m., to finalize plans for the October 18 festival. Anyone interested in helping with the festival or who would like to join this committee are invited to attend. DU Banquet: The local chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold their annual banquet on Thursday, September 11, beginning at 6 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 117 East Franklin. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m., and tickets are available at the door or inadvance by call ing 731-780-7732. Tickets are $40 for singles, $50 for couples, and $15 for Greenwings.
