Valentine's Ball: The annual Relay for Life Valentine's Ball will be held Friday, February 12, from 7 - 11 p.m., at the National Guard Armory on Morgan Street. The event will feature music, dancing and lots of good food. Entertainment for the night will be by Smooth Jazz ProgressionProceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $20 per person and available at Haywood Park Community Hospital, First South Bank, Insouth Bank, First State Bank, City Hall, Delta Heritage Center or from any Relay Team member or call 731-772-0425.

Taste of New Orleans Fundraiser: Th Class of 2010 Leadership Haywood County will host a Mardi Gras fundraiser to benefit Haywood County Multi-Handicap Center on Tuesday, February 16, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the First South Bank Community Room, located behind Jelano's Restaurant on West Main. Dine in and carry out will be available for $7 per plate. Orders of 5 or more can be delivered. A plate will include red beans and rice with smoked sausage, roll, dessert and drink. Farm and Estate Planning Workshop: The University of Tennessee Extension, along with First State Bank, will sponsor a Farm and Estate Planning conference on February 23-24, at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center, College Hill. The workshops will include family communication, business and estate planning, record keeping, conservation easements and more. Registration is now open. East Haywood County Neighborhood Watch Meeting: Lt. Shawn Williams will be guest speaker at the February meeting of East Haywood Neighborhood Watch Association. The meeting will be held Thursday, February 11, 7 p.m., at Holly Grove Baptist Church. Williams will discuss gang activity in Haywood County and share suggestions for parents concerning gang activity and media influences on young people. Brownsville Homecoming III: [Rescheduled - January 30 tickets still good for new date] Brownsville-Haywood County Art Council will present "A Brownsville Homecoming III" on Fri., February 19, 7 p.m. at the Marks Performing Art Center at College Hill. This is a night of gospel singing featuring some of Brownsville's best!! This is one of our most popular events for the community and will be the third year to produce this program. The cast varies some each year, but the enjoyment is always the same. Richard Dickerson, Minister of Music at Woodmont Baptist in Nashville,will be director & Jennifer Simmons Milligan will assist with the production. This is a fun family event with the entire cast on stage to perform & support each other. Tickets can be purchased at Livingston's , Insouth Bank Main Branch, from Board members, and at the door. Wrestling Benefit: There will be a wrestling benefit Friday, February 19, at the Parks and Recreation building on Boyd Ave. (old armory) at 7 p.m. Proceeds from this event will help with the medical expenses of Nicole Ward. Ward is the 18-year-old daughter of Scott and Janet Ward. Ward broke her back and is paralyzed from her chest down as a result of an automobile accident Thanksgiving weekend.
