BBA Meeting: The Brownsville Business Association will hold its meeting on Tuesday, March 16, 5:30 p.m., in the Delta Room behind Backyard Barbecue, 703 East Main St. All members are encouraged to attend. Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday, March 1 & 15, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Toddler time will only be offered once during the month of January. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, March 24, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Holy Week Services: The Haywood/Brownsville Ministerial Alliance will once again host Holy Week Services beginning Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2. Services begin at 12 noon followed by a light lunch ($5) at 12:30. Locations for each days service are noted on the calendar. This year's theme is "Last Words are Lasting Words." Everyone is welcome. Musical Benefit: The HHS Class of 1977 will host a Musical Benefit Saturday, March 6, 6 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 311 E. Jefferson. Proceeds will help fellow classmate, Shirley Ann Nixon Rogers, with medical expenses. Rogers is battling cancer. Everyone is invited to the program which will feature musical groups, solos, drama skits and words of encouragment. Admission is free and a love offering will be taken. Carl Perkins Dinner & Auction: The Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse will host its annual dinner and auction Saturday, March 13, 7 p.m., at the Wyatt-Duke National Guard Armory on Morgan St. This year's theme is "Peace, Love and Happy Children." Single tickets are $40 and a table of eight is $320. All proceeds benefit the operations of the Carl Perkins Center and stay in Haywood County. Chamber Art Contest: Brownsville and Haywood County residents are invited to participate in an art contest depicting what the Chamber (and Brownsville-Haywood County) means to you. There will be a 1st ($150), 2nd ($75) and 3rd ($50) place winner and those winners artwork will be framed and displayed in the Chamber building. The contest is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Carneige building where the Chamber is located. For more information, rules and an entry form, contact the Chamber at 731-772-2193. Journey for Control: Diabetics and anyone who cares for a diabetic are encouraged to attend a free seminar "Journey for Control." The Totally Awesome Musical: The Haywood high school Fine Arts Department presents "Back to the 80s" Friday and Saturday, March 5 & 6, 7:30 p.m., at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. Relay for Life Yard Sale: Brownsville Haywood County Parks and Recreation will sponsor a yard sale on Friday afternoon, March 5, from 1-5 p.m., and Saturday, March 6, from 7:30 a.m. until, at the Park and Rec. building on Boyd Avenue (Old Armory). All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. Boxful of Blessings: This monthly Christian Concert will be held on Saturday, March 27, from 6-8 p.m., at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Theater at College Hill. Admission is free. Community Day for Excellence: Parents and kids are invited to learn the latest methods of drug and alcohol abuse among teens. this educational seminar will be held Saturday, March 13, 1-4 p.m., at the Carver gym, 709 East Jefferson. Enjoy free popcorn and beverages, plus more. The event is held in partnership with the West TN National Guard Drug Task Force and Haywood county Alcohol and Drug Coalition. Easter Egg Hunt: Parks and Recreation's annual community-wide Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m., at Webb Banks Passive Park. Ages 10 yrs to walking are invited to participate. Eggs will be available for babies. Please bring your baskets or containers for the eggs that you find. Please note the new location at Webb Banks Passive Park, due to construction of the Park of Dreams at Volunteer Park. Abby Burke in Concert: The Brownsville-Haywood Co. Arts Council will present Abby Burke in Concert on Saturday, March 20, 7 p.m., at the Marks Performing Art Center. It has been said "that when Abby sings, the room falls silent." Called a "Voice that is unforgettable" - Abby Burke is a vocal artist that invites her audience into a musical world that fills them with joy, reflection and elation. Palm Sunday Service: The community is invited to Brownsville Baptist Church for their Palm Sunday service Sunday evening, March 28. The program entitled "The Day He Wore My Crown of Thorns" is a portrayal of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. The program will begin at 6 p.m. Back to Calendar Ward 2 Neighborhood Watch: Ward 2 will have a neighborhood watch and community meeting on Thursday evening, March 25, 6 p.m., at the WOW building on Boyd Ave. All residents and concerned citizens are invited to attend. Guest speaker will be Kendall Dancy, Parent and Family Involvement Facilitator for Haywood County Schools. Subject for the evening will be: Parent Staying in the Know. Refreshments will be served. Rockin' for Relay: First Presbyterian Church youth will be rocking the night away (in rocking chairs) on Friday, March 26, from 5-11 p.m., at the Brownsville Sonic. You may sponsor a youth or make a donation. Please visit the Sonic Friday night and support the efforts of these youth. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
