BBA Meeting: The Brownsville Business Association will hold its meeting on Tuesday, November 16, 5:30 p.m., in the Delta Room behind Backyard Barbecue, 703 East Main St. All members are encouraged to attend. Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday, November 1 & 15 at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, November 24, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Community Thanksgiving Service: The Brownsville - Haywood County Ministerial Alliance welcomes everyone to attend the annual Community Thanksgiving Service Tuesday, November 23. This year's service will begin at 7 p.m., at Brownsville Baptist Church. Guest speaker will be Rev. Tim McPherson, pastor of Poplar Corner Baptist Church. The offering for this service will go to benefit the Mustard Seed. Everyone is welcome to come and join in the spirit of gratefulness in this community worship service. Rotary Pancake Day: Brownsville Rotary Club will host its annual Pancake Day on Tuesday, November 2, beginning at 7 a.m. Cost is $5 per person. Pancakes are available for eat-in or carry-out in Culver Hall at First United Methodist Church on Franklin St. All proceeds benefit Rotary projects including scholarships. Tickets are available from any Rotary member, Haywood High Interact member or at the door. Holiday in Haywood: Brownsville's premier 3-day shopping mart event is planned for November 12, 13 & 14 at the National Guard Armory, 221 Morgan St. The event is free and open to the public. Hours are: Friday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.; and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. The event will feature over 20 retail and specialty merchants offering items to fill your holiday gift giving needs. Santa will be there to take pictures with the kids and receive wish lists Saturday from 12-2 p.m., there will also be live entertainment beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday families are invited to come in your Sunday best for Portraits by Castellaw Photography. No appointment is necessary and your photos will be available for gift giving, as ornaments, Christmas cards and many other options. This event is sponsored by the Brownsville Business Association. NAACP Meeting: The NAACP will hold its monthly meeting Monday, November 1, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the NAACP headquarters, 28 East Jefferson St. Conversations at High Noon: Dunbar Carver Museum Presents "Conversations at High Noon" Wednesday, November 10 starting from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A stimulating and provocative presentation will precede each conversation led by Dr. Dorothy Granberry. Veterans Day Commemoration: A magnificent display of over 400 American Flags in honor or memory of our dear loved ones will be on display October 25 - November 15 on the Haywood County Courthouse lawn. A special Commemoration Ceremony will be held Veteran's Day, November 11, at noon, at the courthouse. Wine in the Woods: Gather at a cabin on the Hatchie River, nestled deep in the woods, surrounded by beautiful Fall foliage, and warmed by a bonfire, to enjoy great wine, food and company. Wine Master Huddleston will introduce both red and white wines, explain their many complexities, and answer questions for all budding wine aficionados. Call your friends, dress comfortably and plan to join this very special event and support the YMCA Saturday, November 13, 4 - 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person. Family & Friends Day: Tabernacle CME Church invited the community to Family and Friends Day Sunday, November 14. Festival of Trees Gala: The Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse will host its First Annual Festival of Trees Gala Tuesday, November 16, at 6:30 p.m., at College Hill Center. Tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds will go to the Carl Perkins Center. Attendees will be the first to view the Festival of Trees exhibit. The evening will include food and a silent auction. Call 731-772-8378 to purchase tickets or for more details. Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Library will host Friends Night Tuesday, November 16, 7 p.m., at the Elma Ross Public Library. The Friends will welcome back, as guest speaker, Dr. Joan Hartman. Dr. Hartman is the author of “Sam’s Special Cookie” and “Grace Finds Gold.” Everyone is invited. For more information contact the library at 731-772-9534. 1st Annual Festival of Trees: The First Annual Festival of Trees will be presented by the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse beginning Wednesday, November 17 Saturday, November 20. Trees will be open for free public viewing from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. each day. The public is invited to vote for their favorites by dropping a dollar into the ballot box associated with that tree. The tree that raises the most money will be chosen the winner of the festival and awarded a prize. All proceeds will go to the Haywood County Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Mickey Utley’s Annual Thanksgiving Homecoming: The community is invited to the first annual Thanksgiving Homecoming hosted by Mickey Utley Friday, November 26. The event will feature Utley, along with The Waiting and Heather Paige Vaughn for what is planned to become an annual Thanksgiving event. Ticket prices are $20 floor seats (plus a meet and greet); $15 floor seats; and $10 balcony seating. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center, College Hill. South Hatchie Chili Cook-Off: South Hatchie Fire Station, 3661 Eurekaton Road across from Harmony Baptist Church, will host a Chili Cook-Off Saturday, November 27, beginning at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $5.
