Come
join the fun at 4-H camp this summer
These
five-day resident camps will be conducted at the Buford Ellington 4-H Center in
Milan, Tenn. UT Extension offers these programs in agriculture and natural
resources, 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences and resource
development.
The 4-H
center is a modern camp facility and joins the Milan Experiment Station, home
of the West Tennessee Agricultural Museum. Campers enjoy food served
cafeteria-style in an air-conditioned, 400 seat dining hall and stay in
cottages with bath facilities in each cabin. Accommodations for campers with
disabilitites are also available.
Campers
enjoy swimming, rifle and archery ranges and a large recreation pavilion. Ball
fields, basketball courts and a tennis court are located on the grounds. Other facilities
include a wildlife center, t-shirt shop, air brush center, craft center and a pond
where they can fish, canoe or paddle boat ride.
4-Hers
also participate in an early morning cookout at the pond and go
“Creek-stomping” on the daily wildlife hikes. An outdoor amphitheater is the
backdrop for campfires.
Computers
are available in the learning center and campers may purchase snacks at the
well-stocked canteen.
