Contestants try everything to
thaw their shirts in the Frozen T-shirt Contest, even throwing them on the
ground. In this competition, the winner is the first to thaw his/her shirt
enough to slip over their head and arms as for normal wear. This is just one of
the crowd-pleasing events held during the Hatchie Fall Fest.
For a day full of fun and
activities, don’t miss the 5th Annual Hatchie Fall Fest Saturday,
October 18, on the square in Brownsville, Tenn. From scarecrows to rock
climbing and everything in between, this festival has something for everyone,
even the family pet.
While the kids are busy in the
bouncy house, getting their face painted and enjoying the many games, you can
find great bargains at the arts and crafts booths, shop the local merchant’s
sidewalk sales and enjoy a beautiful quilt exhibit.
But that’s not all. There are lots
of things you can do as a family. Ever climbed a rock wall? Now’s your chance
to show the kids how it’s done, or maybe they’ll show you. Have fun looking at
the scarecrow exhibits and vote for your favorite. Pets get in on the act at
the Pet Show and Blessing of the Pets.
How about a little family
competition in the 5K Run/Walk or one of the many other contest, like pie and
cake baking, chili making or salsa eating? Ever tried to wiggle into a frozen
t-shirt? All of this, plus a whole lot more is happening at this year’s Hatchie
Fall Fest.
Motorcycle and car enthusiasts
will be glad to know a Motorcycle Card Run and the Trash Nationals Car Show
have been added to this year’s lineup of festival activities. Also new this
year is the addition of a CastingKids competition where participants ages 7-14 flip, pitch and cast a hookless lure to a bull's-eye
target. Winners go on to compete at the state level.
Enjoy live performances all day
from the main stage featuring local and regional entertainers. Favorites such
as Mickey Utley, Kickin, The Singing Firefighter and the award winning HHS Show
Choir are among those scheduled to perform.
You don’t want to forget all the
food that will be available throughout the day. From a full breakfast (8-10
a.m. at the Masonic Lodge) to fried catfish with all the trimming (11 a.m. to 1
p.m., First United Methodist Church) to funnel cakes and all your other
favorite festival foods, you will not go hungry at the Hatchie Fall Fest.
You’ll also want to check out the
mini-tractor pull before you call it a day (5 p.m. at Boyd Ave. arena). You
will delight in all that the Hatchie Fall Fest has to offer.
Admission to the Hatchie Fall Fest
