
Miss Black Kentucky 2009 to speak to Brownsville youth
Tamira
A. Cole is a motivational speaker who has traveled, studied, and mentored in
nearly 30 states and several countries. Before and during her reign as Miss
Black Kentucky USA 2009, Tamira reached thousands of people with her messages
of triumph over adversity and inspired many with her love of life and her
determination to achieve great things. Her platform “YOUth in Action” seeks to
guide young people along the path to becoming productive citizens.
A
West Tennessee native and graduate of Austin Peay State University, Tamira has
studied and given lectures at Princeton University, Brown University,
University of California at Berkeley, and Columbia University. She is also a
published author. Her first novel “Hush” was released in 2009. She has also
written for CosmoGirl!
and Seventeen magazines and was
named a SHAPE magazine “model
of fitness.”
After
getting her start in Madison County, Tenn., 4-H, Tamira is now in her 15th
year of membership of the National 4-H organization. She sat on the Board of
Trustees as the first Tennessee 4-H member to ever be appointed to the board.

Extension is pleased to welcome Tamira Cole to Haywood County to inspire our
youth and community. Cole will be visiting some of the Haywood County Schools
Friday, May 7, and will serve as emcee and special guest at Haywood’s Got
Talent competition Saturday evening, May 8, at the Ann Marks Performing Arts
Center.
The
public is invited to meet Cole at a reception in her honor Friday, May 7, 2
