George Williams of Haywood County was among several inducted into the United Way Hall of Fame Tuesday night, January 24, 2006 at a ceremony held at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Tenn. The honor was given to those who have been instrumental in the United Way effort. Williams was recognized for his part in laying the groundwork for United Way in Haywood County. Congratulations, Mr. George!
The 2005-2006 Haywood County Leadership Class spent Thursday, January 19, 2006, learning about education in Haywood County. The Leadership Class toured the Anderson Early Childhood Center, Sunny Hill School, Career and Technical School, Justice Academy, and Haywood High School. They met with George Chapman, Superintendent of Schools, to discuss what is right with our schools and what we can do as community leaders to improve our schools. Doris Battle and Janet Ward, Leadership Board of Directors, were hosts for the day.
