Brownsville & Haywood County December 14, 2007 Volume
3, Issue 48 |

Don’t forget to shop locally this holiday
season and take advantage of Thursday night shopping around the square. The
Enchanted Forest is back and now located in the old Brownsville Flower Shop
building on South Washington. The kids will love to get a chance to see Santa
and to watch the trains operate. Thanks to Bubba Shirley for sharing his
train sets with Haywood County children each year and a special thanks to
Santa, too. It’s nice to have somewhere locally that the kids can visit with
him and share their Christmas lists. The Brownsville Police Department will begin a new campaign
Saturday that will focus on holiday drinking and driving. The focus
"Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest" will begin Dec. 15
and continues through the end of the year. BPD Officer Barry Diebold says the
emphasis is not on giving tickets but slowing down the motoring public and
keeping them from driving impaired. It must be working; according to Diebold
crashes have decreased significantly during the three year's the enforcement
procedures have been in place. So please remember to slow down and be safe
this holiday season. Send me your favorite recipes. Perhaps you
have one you especially like to make during the holidays. We’d love for you
to share it with us. E-mail and I’ll share it
with the rest of the AAB readership in a future issue. Who knows, we may
eventually have enough recipes for a cookbook. What do you think? Congratulations to the Christmas Tree
Decorating Contest winners. In the business category, winners are Merle
Norman (1st) and Crye-Leike Real Estate Specialists (2nd);
school category winner is HJH 8th Grade Computer class. ~ Sonia |
