Recipe of the Week: Catfish Gumbo I have some exciting news to
share this week. First. All About Brownsville has
been featured in the March Connected Tennessee
eCommunity Newsletter. This was very exciting for me
and I am delighted with the resulting article. I will definitely be at the
Haywood County Kick-off meeting on April 1. Hope you will, too. Second. I’d like to introduce
you to a new feature on All About Brownsville – a Community Blog. Blogging is new to me and the
idea actually came from an AAB reader. Her hope, and mine, is that this will
give you a place to share your ideas and thoughts on Brownsville and Haywood
County. I shared the link with a few friends while testing, so there are some
comments already posted for you to read and comment on. Tuesday is April Fool’s Day, but
there’s nothing foolish about the Town Hall Meeting planned for that night.
The Haywood County Coalition invites everyone, and especially youth, to participate
in this very important conversation about drugs, alcohol and tobacco use in
our community. If you can’t make the meeting, Rev. Brent Porterfield has
asked that you post your comments on the AAB Blog and he will share them on Tuesday
night. It’s time for Flocked for a
Cure. That’s right. The pink flamingos are back! Beginning April 1, you can
flock a friend for $10. Of course, it’ll also cost your friend $10 to be
deflocked. It’s all in fun and sponsored by Insouth Bank Relay for Life team.
Call 731-779-0244. The Curves Food Drive is still
going strong. Their goal is 2,000 lbs., and on Wednesday they only lacked 300
lbs. reaching the goal. The food will be donated to our local food banks,
Carl Perkins Center and Mustard Seed. The Mustard Seed has already
distributed food to more than 300 families this year, so this food is very
much needed. If you would like to donate, take items to Curves of
Brownsville, 140 S. Dupree, by Monday, March 31. Let’s make absolutely sure
that the goal is reached. ~ Sonia |
