Haywood Family Health Center is offering free blood
pressure checks on Fridays during the month of May. This is in observance of
National High Blood Pressure Month. If you suffer from high blood pressure,
or just haven’t had yours checked in a while, I hope you will take advantage
of this opportunity. If you are diabetic, don’t forget to sign-up for the
Dining with Diabetes class being offered by UT Extension. It begins Thursday
night and space is limited. Call today, 772-2861. The Wednesday Morning Musicale is busy celebrating their
100th Anniversary this year and in addition to two more concerts,
they are also presenting a free recital Sunday at 3 p.m., at Brownsville
Baptist Church. This event will feature students of area music teachers. Lots of fundraisers still going on as we head into the
final stretch before the Relay for Life event June 13. Insouth Bank is
hosting a big yard sale and the fire department wants to wash your car and
feed you during their Relay fundraisers this Saturday. The Mr. & Mrs. Hatchie Pageant was a huge success
last Saturday. Lots of very handsome children participated and all the
proceeds benefit Relay for Life. I helped emcee the event and had a great
time. This weekend offers another opportunity to show off your
kids and grandkids. The Humane Society is sponsoring a pageant this Saturday at
the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center beginning at 10 a.m. All proceeds from
this event will benefit the Humane Society. Entry and contact information is
below. Let’s talk about quality of life in Brownsville and
Haywood County. Read the latest blog posting and get in on the
conversation. ~ Sonia |
