I told you last week how successful the first Hatchie
Pageant was. I now have a list of winners. Again,
congratulations to all the young gentlemen and ladies who participated in
this event. The next one is already scheduled for Oct. 25, so go ahead and
mark your calendars now. Speaking of events, Relay for Life is fast approaching. This
year’s theme is “Dancing for a Cure,” and a special dance group from Memphis
will be part of the night’s entertainment on Friday, June 13. The event
begins at 5 p.m. at the football field and will last until midnight. Mickey
Utley has just cut a new CD and he and his band will also be performing, along
with other local favorites throughout the evening. This year’s honorary
chairpersons are Robert Barden and Peggy Boyd. We’ll learn more details in
the coming weeks. We all have our viewpoint and perspective on what is
right and wrong with our community. And, as you know, I have plenty of
opinion to go around, but I’m glad to see that you are taking advantage of
the AAB Blog and beginning to
share your opinions, too. If you haven’t participated yet, know that you do
not have to create an account to post, simply choose the “anonymous” option.
I don’t think it matters so much who is saying what as it does what we are
saying. Constructive criticism and creative solutions are what will make a
difference. A Special Note to the 1175th National Guard
Unit: Thank you! You’ve been in our prayers, your sacrifices have not gone
unnoticed, and we are thankful for your safe return. Welcome Home!! ~ Sonia |
