Calling all Artist: The Hatchie Fall Fest is conducting
a T-shirt Design Contest. So get the creative juices flowing and enter the
contest. Deadline for entry is July 15. Rules and regulations are available online, or go by A&B
Printing, 50 S. Washington. This contest is open to all ages and the winning
design will be featured on this year’s festival t-shirt. Winner also receives
$100. Will you create the winning design? I know you’ve heard a lot about The Park of Dreams, an
all-inclusive park to be added at Volunteer Park. There are several
opportunities for you to contribute to this effort and now you can get all
your info from the same place – www.parkofdreams.com. Courtesy of a
local student, the new website is up and running. Check it out. I’m sorry to hear Linda Burns will be leaving the Carl
Perkins Center in June. She has been a great asset to the center and it was
always a pleasure to work with her. I wish her the best in her new venture. Connected Tennessee meeting is coming
up this Tuesday, May 27, 5:30 p.m., downstairs at the Chamber. Everyone
interested in high-speed internet availability and affordability in Haywood
County needs to attend this meeting. We will begin to evaluate how new
services can make a difference in education, business, agriculture,
government, community-based organizations and other sectors of our community.
We don’t want to be left behind on this one, and broadband development and
application can easily be a deciding factor for anyone wanting to live or do
business in Haywood County. Haywood UT Alumni are inviting you to meet and hear the
Voice of the Vols, Bob Kesling,
Friday, June 13, at Pringles Park in Jackson. It’s UT Night at the
Diamond Jaxx. Your ticket includes the game, a buffet supper, fireworks and,
if you wear orange, door prizes. Reservation deadline is June 4. Contact Jo
Matherne for more information, 731-779-1117. I bet it’s not too late to sign up a team for the
upcoming March of Dimes Golf Tournament June 5. Contact Jeannie Patrick
(731-668-1023), Debra Jackson (731-772-5183) or Tara Joyner (731-780-1328). And don’t forget Relay for Life, Friday, June 13,
beginning at 5 p.m., at the football field. Lots of food, fun and
entertainment. Enjoy your Memorial Day holiday! Join the Conversation: AAB Blog ~ Sonia |
