All About Brownsville

& Haywood County

March 27, 2009

Volume 5, Issue 13

Funny. Something is planned everyday this coming week except for Wednesday. Seems there should be some celebration associated with April Fool’s Day - other than the practical jokes.

Easter is fast approaching. Haywood County Parks and Recreation will host its annual Community Easter Egg Hunt April 4. The Haywood County Ministerial Alliance also invites you to attend this year’s Holy Week services. The theme is “Witness to the Crucifixion: The Faces of Those Surrounding Jesus During Holy Week.” Go here for a complete schedule of locations and more information.

Brownsville’s Park of Dreams is finally becoming a reality. You’re invited to a ground-breaking ceremony next Thursday, April 2, 4:30 p.m., at Volunteer Park. Bricks for the entrance are still being sold. Find out more by visiting their website:  www.parkofdreams.com.

"On The Town" to benefit the YMCA starts Saturday, April 4. Through the generosity of supporters, the Y has planned a series of social events to appeal to varying tastes and price ranges – with all ticket proceeds going to the Haywood County branch of the YMCA. By purchasing tickets to these events, you can help the “Y” receive much-needed funds to continue its quality programs and projects. There is a wide selection of events, from a Kentucky Derby party to a “Survivors”-type luau, from afternoon tea to a Southern country supper or a romantic stay in a tree house! More events for children have been added this year, and Mom has some very special choices for her Day in May, as well. To get a copy of the booklet containing all the events, call 772-9748, or go by the Y at College Hill Center.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. I’m sure blue ribbons will begin to spring up around town. Please remember that these ribbons represent the black and blue marks left on children who are victims of child abuse.
