Volume 6, Issue 3

You know that I love to garden and it’s the time of year to begin thinking about it. If you love to garden as much as I do, now’s your chance to take the Master Gardener course. UT Extension offers the program and this year’s class will begin February 4 through April 15, meeting on Thursday evenings from 6-8. Cost is $75 and includes the ‘gardening bible,’ as we Master Gardeners like to call it. This book has everything you’ll ever want to know about gardening. To sign up call 731-772-2861.

Another UT program coming up in February is a CPR Certification class. It begins February 17 and will offer an adult and an infant/child class. Deadline to sign up is February 5. Cost is $30. Again, call the Extension office at 731-772-2861 to sign up. The class is co-sponsored by the American Red Cross.

If you are looking for something to do today (Thursday), come on out to the Delta Heritage Center and take our Volunteer Training course. A class starts at 1 p.m., and another at 3 p.m. It’s lots of fun and just requires volunteering an hour or more a month.

Brownsville Homecoming III will be presented Saturday, January 30. This is always a community favorite that is presented by the Arts Council and features all Brownsville talent. Details are below. Get your tickets early.

Tickets are still available for the Valentine’s Ball to benefit Relay for Life February 12, at the Wyatt-Duke National Guard Armory. Call me or see any Relay for Life team member for your tickets. I’ll have more details about this event in the coming weeks, but it will feature music, dancing and good food. What else could your sweetheart ask for and where else are you going to get all that for just $20 a person?
