Thank you to everyone who withstood the scorching heat
to enjoy a great gospel concert Saturday evening. David Smith and George
Parchman put on an exceptional show despite the heat. As soon as I have
confirmation on our next event I will be letting you know. There is another Christian Concert this weekend at the
Ann Marks Performing Arts Center. Check out Boxful of Blessings Saturday
night at 6 p.m. A new organization formed in Haywood County this week.
Hope for Haywood County Disaster Recovery Services is a long-term recovery
group made up of local citizens including business and industry leaders who
will continue the work of helping put back the pieces for flood victims after
FEMA has left. Have you heard about Dynametal's new website? They have
a news and event page so the community, as well as their customers, can keep
up with what's happening. Check it out at www.dynametal.com. If you have children between 5 and 18, you might want to
check out the OMG Youth Retreat at Faith Deliverance Church this weekend.
Christ Church VBS begins Monday. Details in the calendar below. Haywood Park Community Hospital will continue their
diabetes education class "Journey for Control" Tuesday, July 6. If
you plan to attend, contact Mary Ann Sharpe at 731-772-8411. I know it's a little warm to be talking about deer hunts
but the Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge wants hunters to know how to apply
for this year's quota deer hunts. Check out the news page for details. Just a quick reminder: don't forget about the Retirement
Reception honoring Mayor Webb Banks and Vice-Mayor Joe Taylor Tuesday, June

Ward 2 Neighborhood Watch MeetingWard
2 will have a Neighborhood Watch and Community Meeting on Thursday, June 24,
at the WOW Building on Boyd Avenue at 6 p.m. All residents of Ward 2 and
concerned citizens are welcome to attend, ask questions, present comments and
ideas regarding their ward and how to improve our neighborhoods. Guest
speaker will be Bob Parks, Director of Haywood County Emergency Management.

OMG Youth RetreatOMG (Obtaining My Goals) is the focus of Faith Deliverance Church's 2010 Youth Retreat to be held Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26. Each days activities begins at 2 p.m. and is open to children ages 5-18. Workshop sessions include Priorities and Goal Setting; Healthy versus Unhealthy Relationships; Peer Pressure; and Decision Making. Dinner will be served Friday evening followed by a Teen Party in the Fellowship Hall. A movie and popcorn will be late Saturday afternoon. Faith Deliverance Church is located at the corner of Tamm St. and East College. |

Candidate Forum District 8 & 9The Concerned Citizens of the Pilgrim Rest Community
Center are hosting a forum for the County Commission candidates seeking
District 8 & 9 (Stanton, Douglas, Fredonia, & parts of Brownsville)
area beginning at 10 a.m.. Saturday, June 26. The candidates include: Sam
Mathes, Jeffery Richmond, & Majorie Vaulx. Everyone living in this
district please come out, meet the candidates, and ask questions. World Cup GamesLos Amigos Mexican Restaurant will be hosting a Soccer
"World Cup Games" from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, June 26, at the
Eastside School Field. Donations $3.00/ticket. Children 5 & under - FREE.
All proceeds raised will be donated to our Haywood County's Annual Christmas
Basket Fundraiser. Please go out & support this GREAT event!!! For

Church will hold is annual Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, June 28
through Friday, July 2, from 6-8:30 p.m. A free supper will be served
beginning at 5 p.m. VBS kids and parents are also invited to Fireworks and
Ice Cream on July 4. |

Hope for Haywood CountyThe newly formed organization, Hope for Haywood County
Disaster Recovery Services, will meet Tuesday, June 29, 9 a.m., downstairs at
the Chamber of Commerce. This is a long-term recovery effort that will work
to help meet the unmet needs of our recent flood victims. If you are
interested in being a part of this organization or just curious, please plan
to attend. It is an open meeting and everyone is invited. For more
information about what is happening right now with this group, go here. Retirement ReceptionFirst
South Bank and The Brownsville Haywood County Chamber of Commerce would like
to invite the community to a Retirement Reception in honor of Mayor Webb
Banks and Vice-Mayor Joe Taylor. Both men will be leaving office on July 13.
The Reception will take place on Tuesday, June 29, from 4-6 p.m., at the
First South Bank Community Room on West Main. For more information, call the
