Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be Mondays, April 7 & 21, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, April 23, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Brownsville Business Association: The Brownsville Business Association will conduct it's regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Connected Tennessee Haywood County Kick-Off: Please join the initial meeting of the Haywood County eCommunity Leadership Team at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at Southwest Tennessee Electric Community Room, 1009 East Main. This is an essential meeting as we begin to implement Tennessee's Trail of Innovation and perform the assessment of Haywood County's broadband infrastructure and support applications. "Come Home for Our 100th": First in a series of three concerts to be presented by the Wednesday Morning Musciale as they celebrate 100 years of the performing arts in Haywood County. The first concert will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 6, at First Presbyterian Church, 109 West College St. Season tickets are available for $25/$5 students or $10 each for the April 6 concert. Haywood Coalition: The Haywood Coalition will host a Town Hall meeting at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center at College Hill on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 7 p.m. The purpose of the town hall meeting is to discuss concerns and share information about youth alcohol abuse. There is a wide spectrum of perspectives in addressing the problems of youth alcohol abuse and sharing those viewpoints is an important part of the solution. Material will be available from a variety of sources relating to current science, trends and community impact of alcohol use by young people. Twice the Ice: The Brownsville Haywood County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to the Grand Opening of Twice the Ice. Located at 205 Anderson Avenue int he Brownsville Express parking lot, a grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served and a free bag of ice will be given to every customer from 10 until 11 a.m. Leadership Graduation: The Leadership Haywood County Board of Trustees invites you to a Graduation Dinner honoring the 2007-2008 Adult Leadership Class Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the First South Community Room located at 308 West Main St. (formerly Yesterdays). Give Blood: West Tennessee Regional Blood Center's Lifeline Blood Mobile will be in Brownsville Friday, April 18, from noon until 6 p.m., on the court square. Candlelight Vigil: In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse will hold its annual Candlelight Vigil on Monday, April 7. This year's event will take place at the Advocacy Ceter John Clinton Building at 130 Boyd Avenue, beginning at 5:15 p.m. All Brownsville and Haywood County residents are urged to attend this brief, but important, ceremony. Take out Child Abuse: Friday, April 25, has been chosen as the day to visually show your support in taking out child abuse by wearing a special t-shirt. The t-shirts are $15 and available at the Carl Perkins Child Abuse Prevention Center office at 130 Boyd Ave. The black short-sleeve t-shirts are designed around the theme "Take out Child Abuse" and features the five protective factors to have a happy family. Habitat for Humanity will hold a second community meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at 6 p.m., College Hill Center, to continue the discussion of the organization in Haywood County. Harmony Baptist Church will host a Spring Revival with Evangelist Jackie Kaye, from Millington, Tenn., beginning Sunday April 20 through Wednesday evening, April 23. Sunday morning service will begin at 11 a.m., and nightly services will be at 7 p.m. Bennie Morrison will lead the choir and congregational singing and each night will feature special music. Revival: Holly Grove Baptist Church, located at 8488 Poplar Corner Road, will be in Revival beginning Sunday, April 27 through Wed., April 30. Haywood County Master Gardeners Meeting: The Haywood County Master Gardener Association will meet on Tuesday, April 22, at 6 p.m., at the Extension office, 100 South Wilson. Master Gardener meetings are open to the public. All Master Gardeners are encouraged to attend. Skin Cancer Detection & Prevention: Dr. Farnell Backer will present a program on Skin Cancer Tuesday, April 22, beginning at 5 p.m., in the Haywood Park Hospital cafeteria. A light meal will be served. This seminar is free and open to the community. Benefit Yard Sale: On Friday, April 25, from 3-7 p.m., there will be a large yard sale with all proceeds going towards Union University students who were hit by the February tornado that ripped through campus. The sale will be held in the Old Wal-mart/Curves Parking lot. Spring Garden Basket Giveaway: Lasco Fittings, Inc. Realy for Life team will be giving away a Spring Garden Basket on Wednesday, April 30. The basket includes: water bucket, flower bed figurine, water hose nozzle, trowel and fork, gardening gloves, wind chime, water hose, potting soil, flag holder and flag, fertilizer, knee pads, plant food, $25 gift certificate to Willow Oaks, and a rain gauge. Tickets are avaialble for a donation of $1 each, 3 tickets for $2 or 7 tickets for $5. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
