Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday, July 19, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Toddler time will only be offered once during the month of July.

Send-Off for Special Olympic Basketball Team: There will be a celebration send-off for the HHS Special Olympic Boys Basketball Team on Tuesday, July 13 at 4 p.m. in front of the courthouse. There will be free popcorn and drinks and First State Bank is providing a cake for all to enjoy. HHS 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament: The Haywood High School Football Quarterback Club will host a 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament Thursday, July 15, beginning at 12 noon, at the Brownsville Country Club. Entry fee is $240 per team, $10 per person Mulligan package. Sign-in at noon in the Pro Shop. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. Proceeds will benefit the 2010-2011 Tomcat Football team. Forever Parents Class: Every third Monday Forever Parents Class is held at the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center from 4 - 8:00 p.m. In January of 2000, the State of TN passed a law requiring all divorcing parents and those petitioning for a change of custody to complete a four-hour seminar concerning parenting. According to the law the seminar shall educate parents concerning how to protect and enhance the child's emotional development and inform the parents regarding the legal process. The seminar shall also include a discussion of alternative dispute resolution, marriage counseling, the judicial process and common perpetrator attitudes and conduct involving domestic violence. The seminar shall be educational in nature and not designed for individual therapy. Minor children shall be excluded from attending these sessions. The group setting encouraging open discussion and questions and the leader will present tools and ideas about how to build a relationship with each other geared toward co-parenting. Parenting Classes: Parenting classes are offered every Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center. These classes are in a ten week session. This program provides support and develops parenting skill in its participants. It promotes positive parenting and healthy discipline techniques. There is not a fee for the program and it is open for anyone to attend. Please contact the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center at 731-772-8378 if you are interested in attending these classes.

After Hours Open House: The Haywood After-Hours Clinic will hold a Health & Wellness Open House today, Thursday, July 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. They are located at 2555 N. Washington Suite #3, directly across from the ambulance entrance of the Haywood Park Community Emergency Room. The public is invited to meet the staff and take a tour of the clinic while enjoying free refreshments, health educational screenings, and an opportunity to win two $50 Wal-Mart gift cards. The clinic will be also be offering blood pressure, diabetes, motor skills, and nutritional health stations, as well as hand washing demonstration for children. Even during the Wellness & Health Open House, the Haywood After-Hours Clinic will be open during its regular hours, which are Tuesday through Friday from 3:00 PM until 11:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday from noon until 8 PM. Meet the Candidates Fish Fry: Stanton Neighborhood Watch invites residents of Haywood County to downtown Stanton Friday, July 30, from 4-8 p.m., to meet the Haywood County Candidates and enjoy a fish fry. Fish plates are $7 each and include 2 fillets, white beans, slaw, bread or hushpuppies and a drink. Homemade ice cream will be available for $1 extra.
