BBA Meeting: The Brownsville Business Association will hold its meeting on Tuesday, June 15, 5:30 p.m., in the Delta Room behind Backyard Barbecue, 703 East Main St. All members are encouraged to attend. Toddler Time at the Library: Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday, June 7 & 21 at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack. Lunch 'N Learn at the Library: Lunch and Learn is planned for Wednesday, June 23, at noon at the Elma Ross Public Library. Each month promises an interesting speaker and an opportunity to learn something new. Remember to bring your lunch and the library will provide your drink and dessert. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838: Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Concert on the Porch: The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center will present George Parchman and David Smith in concert on the porch of the Sleepy John Estes house - Southern Gospel meets Country Spiritual. This is part of the Summer Concert Series being presented by the Center. Admission is free. You are invited to pack a picnic or visit one of the surrounding restaurants for a "to go" bag, bring the family and enjoy an evening of good music. Barnett's Homecoming: The Barnett's Homecoming will be held Saturday, June 5, beginnning at 7 p.m., at Allen Baptist Church, located in the Allen community on Hwy. 79 North (Bells Hwy.) Friends of the NRA: The West Tennessee Friends of the NRA will hold their annual fundraising banquet at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 10, at the FIrst South Community Room, 308 West Main. Tickets are $25. Proceeds from the event benefit state and national projects such as hunter education, wildlife conservation and shooting teams. Over 90% of funds benefit youth related projects. March of Dimes Golf Tournament: The 12th Annual March of Dimes Golf tournamnet will be held Thursday, June 3, at the Brownsville Country Club. Lunch and registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration fee is $240 per team. Featured events include $10,000 Hole in One contest, Closest Pin Contest, Straightest Drive and Longest Drive. All proceeds from the event benefit the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation. Hawaiian Luau: YMCA's On the Town event "Hawaiian Luau" will take place Saturday, June 5, beginning at 6 p.m. Cost is $30 per person and maximum number is 30. This party will feature tropical-themed foods, tiki torches and your favorite umbrella drinks. All proceeds from this, and all On the Town events, benefit programs of the local YMCA. Saddle Up for VBS: Holly Grove Baptist Church, 8488 Poplar Corner Road, will host its annual Vacation Bible School June 7-11. This year's theme is "Saddle Ridge Ranch." Children ages 3 through 6th grade are invited to attend. The kick-off will be held Saturday, June 5, from 11-1, and will include lunch and lots of fun games. Parents are welcome. VBS will begin Monday at 9 a.m. until noon. Van transportation is available by calling the church at 731-772-2627. Friday, June 11, at 7 p.m., will be Family Night for children and parents with a short program and refreshments. Youth Fishing Rodeo: TWRA and Hatchie NWR will host the 2010 youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday, June 5, 7:30 a.m. at Hatchie's Goose Lake. The event is open to youth ages 4-12. Participants must provide their own equipment and bait. Volunteers will be on hand to assist anyone who needs help. Parents will not be allowed to fish until the lake opens to the public at noon. Prizes will be given for biggest fish, smallest fish and most fish; among others. Fishing tackle will be for loan during the fishing rodeo. Cemetery Day: The Annual Cemetery Day will be held at Holly Grove Baptist Church Sunday, June 6. Bro. Frank Kemper will bring the message. Cost is $5 and includes your choice of a grilled hamburger or cheeseburger, chips, a dessert snack cake and a drink. All proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club in Brownsville. Hope for Haywood County: The newly-formed organization, Hope for Haywood County Disaster Recovery Services, will meet Tuesday, June 29, 9 a.m., downstairs at the Chamber of Commerce. FDC Youth Retreat 2010: OMG (Obtaining My Goals) is the focus of Faith Deliverance Church's 2010 Youth Retreat to be held Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26. Workshop sessions include Priorities and Goal Setting; Healthy versus Unhealthy Relationships; Peer Pressure; and Decision Making.
