Leadership Haywood County Graduates Nine New Leaders

Haywood County has nine new leaders. The Leadership Haywood County Board of Trustees presented the 2007 graduating class at a banquet in their honor held Thursday evening, March 29, 2007, at the First South Bank Community Center. Graduating members are pictured above: (front row, from left) Yvette Blue, Haywood County Schools; Debra Greenway, MTD; Karen Shaw, First South Bank; Michelle Sills, Insouth Bank; Ervin Turner, Haywood Company; (back row, from left) Martin Zalte, Lasco; Dennis Evans, Haywood Company; Jamie Parchman, Fastenal; and Bobbie Bell, Dynametal.

Ervin Turner was the recipient of the “Thinking Outside the Box” Award and Yvette Blue was chosen as the class representative to the Board of Trustees.

The class began their adventure together in August 2006 and dedicated a Thursday in each month to completing courses in economic development, the justice system, local and state government, health and welfare, culture and schools. Before graduating, members also had to participate in team building exercises where they learned to comfortably work together for common goals.

This year’s class chose the Boys and Girls Club as their project and sponsored fundraising events to benefit the Club.
