Southwest Tennessee Electric

ANNUAL MEETING August 10

Southwest Tennessee Electric was formed in 1936 by ordinary people who wanted an extraordinary thing - power. Power is just what they got. The electric power that flowed through the newly constructed lines brought light to the darkness and made chores a little easier. But they also received another form of power - control. The members of Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation had the power to elect board members who established the policies governing the cooperative. We remember those early pioneers who recognized a need and worked to develop the power we enjoy today.

The board and employees of Southwest Tennessee Electric remember our past, but we also look to our future. STEMC is investing in new technology that will improve customer service and keep costs low. We are also encouraging TVA to look for opportunities to cut costs and continue developing sustainable generation.

The 2007 Annual Member’s Meeting - Remembering Our Past, Preparing for Our Future - has been scheduled for Friday evening, August 10, 2007, at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center, College Hill Auditorium, in Brownsville. The results of the director’s election will be announced as well as the President’s report on the cooperative.

“The annual meeting truly represents what we are,” says Vice President of Marketing and Energy Services Trent Scott. “It gives members the opportunity to learn about their cooperative and they way we do business. It also gives our board and employees the chance to learn more about the needs and concerns of our membership.”

Food, entertainment, information booths, games, and door prizes make it an event that can be enjoyed by the entire family. All members are reminded to mark their calendars and plan to be present at the annual meeting on Friday evening, August 10, 2007, at the Ann Marks Performing Arts Center, College Hill Auditorium in Brownsville, Tennessee.
