Wednesday Morning Musicale
Announces its 100th Anniversary Concert Series
“Come Home For Our 100th!”
The
Wednesday Morning Musicale has been a driving force in the Brownsville and
Haywood County arts community throughout the years, and the Musicale is very
excited to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding. Started in 1908 by a group of
visionaries who recognized the importance of the performing arts to the ongoing
quality of life in our area, the Musicale has had an enormous impact on all our
lives, and those of our predecessors.
Plans
have been finalized to “bring home” many of the musicians who were raised in
Brownsville, or spent part of their careers here, in a series of three concerts
to be held during 2008. The
Musicale is very pleased to announce the artists performing at its first
concert on Sunday, April 6th, at First Presbyterian Church: Tom Bridgewater, Luke Churchill, Jennifer Churchill
Friedman, Keith Gambill, Jennifer Simmons Milligan, and Paul Sorrell.
Concerts
on June 22nd and
October 12th will
feature additional artists familiar to many in this area: Jeff Binford, Boyd Richards, Ronnie
Richards, Mike Castellaw, Diane Dupree Evans, Emily High Hartnett, Alice
McClanahan, Anita High Myers, Charlie Overton, and Leah Payton Sandifer.
All
concerts will begin at 3:00 p.m.
Season tickets are $25.00/$5.00 students, and are available at INSOUTH
Bank or from Musicale members.
Single tickets for the April 6th concert are also available for $10.00 each.
A
100th anniversary commemorative program will be printed
for the concert series, and limited advertisement space is still
available. Contact Jo Matherne @
779-1117 for more information about tickets or advertising opportunities.
Please
join the Musicale as it celebrates this important milestone in the history of
performing arts in Haywood County.
