The Brownsville-Haywood County Arts Council
will present The Art Center of Cannon County in the production of "Smokey
Joe's Cafe" on Saturday, March 8 at the Ann Marks Performing Art Center,
College Hill, Brownsville, Tenn., at 7 p.m.
The original Broadway production opened in
1995 and has toured extensively around the world. Nine performers sing the
glories of the Fifties in America.... one song at a time.
Smokey Joe's Café is a musical revue that
takes the audience on a journey through the enduring classics of rhythm &
blues, pop, jazz, and perhaps most notably, Rock & Roll. The hits are the
trademark sound of music from the 1950s and 1960s. The show tunes are both
memorable and toe-tappin.' Songs include Love Portion #9, Searchin', Young
Blood, Yakety Yak, Ruby Baby, Jailhouse Rock, and more; a total of 40 chart
topping hits.
