Best Campfire on the Internet!
For the outdoorsman it is hard to beat a campfire.
But in a decade, the website tndeer.com, dedicated to white-tailed deer hunting and other outdoor pursuits, has become the next best thing, keeping the interest in deer hunting burning strong.
It’s hard to give this cyber campfire a definite locale, because
it is available wherever anyone can turn on a computer.
But the owners of the site live right here in Brownsville, Tenn.
Partners Rad Ellington, Craig Robinson and Taylor Wilson, all of
Brownsville, now own the site that recorded over 1 million visitors in the last
year.
“It is one of THE top deer hunting websites in the country. If you
search for Tennessee Deer on Google or any other large search engine,
tndeer.com is going to be atop the list,” said Ellington.
“The amount of traffic — people that visit site — is very
impressive, especially when you consider that this started out to primarily
focus on deer hunting in one state — Tennessee. We now have visitors from all
over the country and even the world.”
Tndeer.com was created by Dennis Goldsby of Rosemark, Tenn.
A hunting buddy of Ellington and Wilson, Goldsby sold the website
to the group from Brownsville.
Sparked as simply a “gathering of like minds” (i.e. people crazy
about deer hunting), the site has expanded to become so much more. Thousands of
die-hard deer hunters visit it daily, and many keep it as their “homepage.”
Like any true hunter’s fire, this cyber-equivalent is a place of
shared knowledge and entertainment. Traffic is tremendous because tips, tactics
and advice are given — tons of it — from hunters and biologists that are
“regulars” onsite. This may include: how to fool mature white-tailed bucks; how
to plant food plots; or advice on stand placement, public hunting spots, ATVs,
sighting-in a rifle and cooking wild game.
Then, too, tndeer.com is a place where yarns are spun — if not
stretched — where opinions, thoughts and perceptions are given on nearly every
topic imaginable including several outside the deer hunting realm.
Various forum pages are dedicated to select topics such as: news,
events, general discussion, serious deer talk, bowhunting, quality deer
management, small game, fishing, NASCAR, game recipes and more.
“Because of tndeer.com people have become better deer hunters.
They have learned how to get “more” out of their sport. It has brought more
attention to not only the sport but to conservation and sportsmanship as well.
Lifetime friends have even been made,” Ellington said.
Basically, it really is a great place to gather — just as any good
campfire should be.
Tndeeer.com will host its 9th Annual Rendezvous at
Fall Creek Falls State Park on March 7-8. To learn more about it, or the
website in general, visit www.tndeer.com.
