of the Krawling King Snakes during the annual dinner and auction to benefit the

The Eighth Annual Denim & Diamonds Dinner and Auction was a
sparkling success. With standing room only, we had our largest crowd with over
300 attending. Entering the Armory lobby, the mood of the night was set with
all the glitter and glamour, provided by the Tenth Review Club. The Shining
backdrop was beautiful, thanks to Margaret Ann Duffey and Sybil Eason.
Children’s denim jeans with flowers and balloons served as table centerpieces
creatively done by the Thirteenth Review Club. The food catered by Joe
Stephens’ Charleston Catering was wonderful, with the classic touch of having
carved prime rib.
Sharing her talent was Mrs. Emma Jane Gorman with her entertaining dinner music. Lots of Silent Auction items were beautifully displayed and many attendees were anxiously bidding to get that perfect item. The Live Auction Items included deer hunting trips, gourmet dining, fine jewelry, a Persian rug and more.
We would like to thank all donors of auction items and the many
volunteers that contributed to a very successful evening. The youth volunteer
servers included the HHS Beta Club, the Insouth Youth Advisory Board and the
Haywood Youth Leadership and others. They did a great job. The Krawling King
Snakes provided entertainment for listening and dancing after the Live Auction.
A special event of the night was the announcement from Insouth's
Phil Clinton and David Prince of the bank's magnificent donation of $100,000 to
the Haywood County Child Advocacy Center! This wonderful donation lays the
foundation for the building of an advocacy center that will serve Haywood
County.
In addition to this naming opportunity for the building, there are
other areas, rooms and bricks, available to help build this "Haven for
Hurting Children" in Haywood County. For more information, please call the
center, 731-772-8378, or come by the current location, 100 N Washington. We are
anxious to start our building, but we need all pledges and donations for the
project cost before we can begin. We are halfway there and we know that as a
county we can do this together! We
can build this building, one brick at a time.
