“Culinary
Treasures is the baby of four of
our night nurses,” says Jackie Collins, director of marketing at Haywood Park
Community Hospital. The “baby” is a collection of recipes gathered from
hospital employees and offered as a fundraiser for the March of Dimes. The
cookbook is the brainchild of four night shift nurses who, because of their
shift, are not able to participate in a lot of the fundraising or the walk.
Rebecca Watson, Marty Beyer, Pam Lewis and Bonnie Hay knew they wanted to do
something to contribute to a cause they feel is very worthwhile. “They are moms
and grandmothers, so babies are near and dear to their hearts,” explains
Collins. March of Dimes is instrumental in working with premature babies.
“Through their research, the pulmonary surfactant that is frequently used for
premies was developed,” says Collins. The March of Dimes also works hard to
educate parents. Culinary Treasures
is available for $10 at Haywood Park Community Hospital or call Jackie Collins
at 772-8475.
