Don’t
forget to get those much-needed supplies for the 1175th to the chamber today. Today
also begins a 3-day tax-free holiday across the state. See below for a link
to tell you about what all you can purchase this weekend that meets the
tax-free guidelines. Just be sure to Shop Brownsville! The
9th Annual Haywood County Golf Tournament to benefit the March of
Dimes is coming up June 14. That means you have time to sign up your team for
the Four-Man Scramble. Hole sponsorships are also available and door prizes
are needed. Call Tara at 780-1328 for more information. All proceeds will
benefit the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation. Ballroom
Dance classes begin May 3 and there may still be openings available. Call
772-4883 or 772-4588. If there are no more openings, get your name on the
list for next time. Friday,
May 4, is the last day to bid on the handmade quilt and pillows at First
South Bank. Go by and look at the beautiful quilt and pillows and make your
best silent auction bid. The proceeds from the auction will benefit Relay for
Life. When’s
the last time you gave our local library a hug? Well, Monday, May 7, you’ll
have a chance to do just that. The library will host a 15 Year Anniversary Open
House from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The highlight of the day will be when
everyone gathers on the lawn to join hands and HUG the library. Mark it on
your calendar now. Lots
of Relay for Life fundraisers going on. Be sure to check out the Community

3-Day Sales
Tax Holiday Today
begins the first day of a special Sales Tax Holiday. Take advantage by buying
school supplies and clothing with a purchase price of $100 or less. The
holiday starts today and lasts through Sunday. Learn more
about the state-wide event and which items will be tax-free. |

Saturday, April 28 |

Fish Fry Christ
Church, Hwy. 76 S., will have a Fish Fry Saturday, April 28, beginning at 5
p.m. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life. Plates are $7 per person and
children 6 and under eat for free. The following will be available for the
plates: fish, ham, hush puppies, fries, cole slaw and various desserts.

3rd Annual
Children’s Day Everyone
is invited to the 3rd Annual Children’s Day Sunday, April 29, from
1-5 p.m. The annual day is sponsored by the Latino Organization and the
Haywood County Community Coalition. The event will take place at Volunteer
Park. Refreshments and entertainment will add to the afternoon of fun. For

May Missions Day Yard Sale First
Presbyterian Church will hold its annual May Missions Day Yard Sale on
Saturday, May 5, beginning at 7 a.m. This is a big multi-family yard sale and
will include several large household items. The sale will take place in front
of the church manse at 119 West College St. All proceeds will benefit the
church's Mexico Missions. InSouth Bank's Relay for Life
team will sponsor a mini-tractor pull on Saturday, May 5, beginning at 5
p.m., at the Crockett Mini-Pullers field on Boyd Avenue. Admission is $5
adults and children under 6 free. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life. |
