Brownsville & Haywood County February 9, 2007 Volume 3, Issue 6 |
|
A couple of
“celebrities” are going to be making appearances in West Tennessee this
month. First, the citizens of Brownsville and Haywood County have been
invited to participate in a “Fit for the Future” conference to be held in
Jackson on Tuesday, Feb. 20, from 7-9 p.m. at the Oman Arena. Special guest
is fitness guru Richard Simmons. The conference is free and sponsored by
LeBonheur Community Outreach. For more info, call 731-984-9964. Then on Friday,
Feb. 23, recently-elected Senator Bob Corker will make a visit to
Brownsville. He will be at the courthouse to meet constituents, take
questions and hear what’s on your mind. He’ll be available from 1-2 p.m. Attention all
Ball Room Dance fans! Now’s your chance to learn. The Arts Council is
offering a Ball Room Dance class beginning Feb. 15. The class will meet on
Thursday nights, for six weeks, through March 22. The instructor is from the
Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Memphis. Space is very limited, so call today if
you are interested -- Betsy Thornton at 772-4883, or Jane Simmons at
772-4588. The Carl
Perkins Center’s annual Denim & Diamonds Dinner and Auction is coming up
on March 10. Seating capacity is limited. Call the center, 772-8378, for your
tickets now, before they all get away. Today is the
last day to purchase portrait packages from Haywood Company Helping Hands to
benefit Relay for Life. More information available here. Don’t forget Lasco’s Relay team is sponsoring Glamour Shots, too.
The deadline to purchase those coupons is Feb. 28. Call 779-2232 or 779-2200
for more information about Glamour Shots. Sausage and Noodles — sounds like a good warm dish to try during one of these cold
nights. I think this one definitely ranks as a comfort food, especially after
hearing how much Mrs. Ann’s family loves it and how long she’s been serving
it. Do you have a family favorite you’d like to share? E-mail me! Considering the
recent report about global warming, you may be interested in attending the
Caring for Creation conference Feb. 18 & 19, in Dancyville. Learn more here. ~ Sonia |
