Relay for Life is getting into full swing with fundraisers happening all over town. Check the Community Calendar; I’m sure you’ll find an activity you’re interested in. All the lunch fundraisers are especially appealing. If you have an event coming up that you don’t see listed, simply fill out an event form to have it posted. Remember, I can’t put it on the calendar if I don’t know about it.

This week’s recipe is one you may have seen recently. I had the opportunity to taste it when John Gallaspy prepared it for last week’s feature article in the Jackson Sun. It is from the First Presbyterian Church cookbook “The Best of Bring A Dish,” and it’s delicious. Try Breakfast Sausage Casserole this weekend. And trust me; it’s good anytime of day. Don’t forget, I need more recipes. Does anyone have a favorite vegetable dish? E-mail it to me.

Have you noticed that the United Way goal monitor at the library continues to climb? We are almost there. And now United Way has launched a new program. Dial 2-1-1 is a hotline for people to give or get help. Learn more here.

If you’re a member of the Brownsville Business Association, or want to be, don’t forget the meeting Tuesday, 5:30 at the chamber. I understand we have a new apparel shop coming this fall and other exciting things happening that you’ll want to know about. There is also a small business loan workshop that will follow the meeting at 6:30. Reservations are not required, so make plans to attend.

Bob Corker comes to town next Friday. If you have something on your mind that he needs to know about, plan to be at the courthouse at 1 p.m.
