Volume 3, Issue 1

Happy New Year!! Taking a look at the calendar for next week, it seems that everyone is taking a much-needed break and are busy setting goals and making plans for the months ahead. But by mid-month, we are back in the swing of things.

Did you enjoy some French Bread Pudding over the holidays? Many have sent recipes and commented on how much they will enjoy a weekly recipe. But for this to become a regular feature, I need more. Send your favorite recipes to me at this address. Recipes and recipe collecting has a huge following in Haywood County. That became pretty apparent to me when the recent cookbook by First Presbyterian Church sold out in one week. (If you didn’t get one, call the church to reserve a copy of the limited supply that has been reordered.) In the meantime, try this offering from the new Bonne Amies cookbook.

Did you see all the motorcycles parked along East Main on New Year’s Day? Several motorcycle clubs traveled to Brownsville to eat lunch at Brownsville Family Restaurant. It seems that at least one of these groups has been eating New Year’s lunch with “Miss Carolyn” for several years.

Congratulations to Carolyn Flagg. Carolyn was sworn in last week and, to my knowledge, is the first woman to serve on the Brownsville Board of Aldermen. She will fill the Ward 2 position formerly held by Mark Davis.

The City/County/Chamber are busy working on their new website. The States-Graphic’s website is up and running, too. You can find links to both, plus other Brownsville and Haywood County sites, on All About Brownsville’s Business & Service Directory.

While you are busy planning for the year, don’t forget to send me your public events for listing in All About Brownsville. It’s easy to list your event, simply complete this online form found on the Community Calendar page.
