Congratulations to the Allyson Byrum, Michelle Tillman
and all of the HHS Drama Department for a job well done. Grease is the word! Are you ready for the social event of the year at the
Denim and Diamonds dinner, dance and auction Saturday night? Lots of great
auction items to bid on, entertainment and all proceeds benefit the Carl
Perkins Center. Call 772-8378 for tickets. Jackie Coburn tells me she is in need of a track coach to
work with the local SYS track team. I know there are a lot of athletes among
you who would love to help these kids. Call Jackie at 772-5763 or 780-1824. Spring Break is coming up March 19-23, and Poplar Corner
Baptist Church will be conducting Vacation Bible School during that time.
There is more information listed below or go by the church at 1010 Boyd Ave. Want a fun way to spend this St. Patrick’s Day evening?
Spend it with Morrie. It may not be Tuesday, but the Arts Council’s
presentation of “Tuesdays with Morrie” on Saturday, March 17, will be an
evening of drama and humor. And if you purchase your tickets ahead of time,
you will also enjoy a light supper buffet served at the College Hill Center.
Call 772-4883. This week’s recipe comes from Jackson, Miss., by way of
Alice Sullivan. On a recent trip to the Gulf to help with the continuing
recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina, she tried Mimi’s Pound Cake and requested the recipe. Mrs.
Alice describes it as “smooth,” and after taking a bite you will know exactly
what she means. ~ Sonia |
