Don't forget that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the hospital is offering screening mammograms for only $100. Please call the hospital and take advantage of this offer, 731-779-3542.

WalkAmerica is tomorrow and registration begins around 8:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:30. This is the March of Dimes biggest fundraiser.

The Hatchie Fall Fest is only 2 weeks away and things are really starting to come together. If you plan to enter the scarecrow contest, please get your entry form in by Monday, Oct. 8. Judging will be Saturday, October 13, beginning at 5 p.m., on the court square. Hot Dogs and Ice Cream will also be available that evening and all proceeds will benefit the Haywood County Master Gardeners.

If scarecrow building is not your thing, perhaps cake or pie baking, gumbo cooking or salsa making is. All these contests are happening during this year's festival. There's the Marla Angotti Memorial 5K Run/Walk and the famous Bunko Tournament. The HHS Show Choir is once again performing at the festival, but also sponsoring a Fish Fry at the Methodist Church. The Humane Society will have the ever poplar Pet Show and Blessing of the Pets, carriage rides will be available and laser tag and so much more you'll just have to come see Saturday, October 20. Brownsville's own "Singing Fireman" will be performing as will KICKIN'. Check out the Hatchie Fall Fest schedule of events.
