Don’t forget Haywood Movement Saturday.
Several are planning to be there, so please come out and show them your
support. If you have pre-ordered Hatchie Fall Fest t-shirts they will be
ready for pick-up at the Festival booth. Partial list of Haywood Movement
participants. Don’t forget the Chamber is still accepting
nominations for man and woman of the year and other awards. Call 772-2193 to
learn what you can do to nominate someone. WalkAmerica, the March of Dimes fundraiser,
is net Saturday, October 6. Sign-up to walk for this good cause. Relay for Life will officially kick-off the
2008 campaign on the 12th at Haywood Park. Join them from 7:30 –

Haywood Movement Join this year’s 3rd
Haywood Movement on Saturday, September 29, from 7 a.m. until noon. This free event is an opportunity
to get some exercise, visit, shop and enjoy our beautiful court square. Areas
will be marked off and closed for walking, biking, skateboarding and other
activities for kids and adults. Members of the community are invited to set-up
booths, sell arts and crafts, or provide information about your group, club

next week. StoryTime on the Courthouse Lawn Sponsored by Haywood County
Reading Railroad, kids of all ages are invited to meet on the courthouse
lawn, Saturday, September 29, at 10 a.m. for story time. This will be a fun
time for the kids to gather on the lawn, make new friends and hear books read
by Reading Railroad volunteers. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join
the kids for this family-oriented activity. You will also be able to sign up
your children, under 5 years of age, to receive a free book each month
through the Reading Railroad program. For more information, visit the Reading Railroad
website. Mini Tractor Pull Crockett Mini-Pullers
invite you to come and watch as mini-tractors perform and out-pull each other
beginning at 5 p.m., Saturday, September 29, at the Boyd Avenue arena across
from B. T. Redi-Mix. The event will benefit the Carl Perkins Child Abuse

George Fridlender to speak at BBC George Fridlender
will give his testimony at the morning service of Brownsville Baptist Church
on Sunday, September 30, at 10:30 a.m. Fridlender was born and reared behind
the Iron Curtain, arrested by the KGB and faced time in a concentration camp.
Learn about the miracle that brought him to the United States and his career
as an international opera singer. For more information, contact the church,

Toddler Time at
the Library Toddler Time at the
Elma Ross Public Library is offered on the first and third Mondays of each
month. This month's Toddler Time is October 1 and 15, at 11 a.m. Parents are
encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets,
crafts and a snack. |

trained experts of our very own Haywood Park Community Hospital Physical
Therapy Department about how to prevent falls. The Fall Prevention seminar is
Wednesday, October 3, at 5 p.m., in the hospital front lobby. Light meal will
be provided as well as literature to take home. No admission fees and
