& Haywood County August 15, 2008 Volume
4, Issue 31 |
|
I hear Brownsville will be featured in an upcoming
(November, I think) issue of VIP magazine. Kay Ferree, a freelance writer who
is known by many in Haywood County, will be interviewing soon. Let’s make
sure we’ve spruced up a bit and have our best face on for this magazine
spread. VIP is a very well-read publication and will go a long way in getting
the word out about Brownsville and Haywood County. Duane Lavery, from Texarkana, Texas, has been hired by
our newly-formed Southwest Community Development Authority (SCDA) for
Industrial Recruitment. Lavery will be actively promoting and recruiting
industries for Haywood, Tipton and Lauderdale Counties. Good luck to Duane, we’re
glad to have him onboard. We are only two months away from this year’s Hatchie
Fall Fest (October 18, 2008) and already our vendor spots are filling up. If
you plan to have a booth and haven’t sent in your application, please do it now.
We sure don’t want to turn anyone away and the deadline is coming up
September 15. And, congratulations to Mary-Wyatt Pettigrew. Her entry
in the Hatchie Fall Fest T-shirt design contest has won her $100 and her
design will be featured on the front of this year’s shirts. Pictures of the
top four entries will be posted on the website soon and all entries will be
on display during the festival at First State Insurance. Let local “celebrities” serve you breakfast this
Thursday at RJ’s Hibachi. All tips and a portion of proceeds from the
Breakfast for Babies event will benefit the March of Dimes. Use this form to order Breakfast
To Go. Do you golf? Learn more about a tournament coming up September
