Early voting began Wednesday and will continue until January 31,
from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., each day, except Sundays and Monday, January 21
(Martin Luther King Jr. Day). This is the Presidential Primary election and I
understand the ballot is pretty full. Early voting is taking place at a new
location this year – inside
the courthouse lobby. Be sure to have your voter registration card or some
other form of valid ID handy when you go. If you’re looking for somewhere fun to take your valentine, the
Haywood County Relay for Life has the answer. Join the fun at the Valentine’s
Sweetheart Ball Friday, Feb. 9, from 7-11, at the National Guard Armory.
Tickets are $10 each and include food, fun and dancing. You must be 21 years
or older. For an additional fee you can also have your picture taken with
your valentine. Contact a Relay for Life team member or chairperson Carolyn
Flagg, 772-0425, for your tickets. Tickets are also available at Insouth
Bank. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life. With the rising cost of gas, many folks have questions about
alternatives such as biofuels. Haywood County UT Alumni are hoping to help
answer some of those questions by inviting you to a special “Biofuels in West
Tennessee” program planned for Tuesday evening, Feb. 5. Cost is $12.50 and
includes a buffet dinner. Dr. Jim Byford, Dean of the College of
Agriculture and Allied Sciences UT Martin, will be the guest speaker. Contact
Jo Matherne, 779-1117, for more info and to make your reservations. Don’t forget to share your upcoming 2008 events. And recipes, e-mail your recipes. ~ Sonia |
