United Way of West Tennessee is sponsoring a great event
beginning August 10 called “2008 Days of Action.” It’s an opportunity for
individuals and groups to join in an effort to improve lives and our
community. Read more about the event and register to take part in the 2008 Days of Action. Christ Episcopal Church announced this week that they
will be moving their Sunday morning service from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. You are
invited to worship with them. Christ Episcopal Church is located on the
corner of North Washington and East College. First day of school is Tuesday, August 5. A couple of
efforts are being made to help provide school supplies for needy families in
Haywood County. The Carl Perkins Center is accepting donations of supplies to
help the families they serve. You can drop off your items at the Center
located on Boyd Avenue or call 772-8378 for more information. The Town of
Stanton will hold its annual “Stuff the Bus” event tomorrow morning at the
Farmers Market downtown. Supplies collected there will be distributed through
the schools. The Brownsville Unit Boys & Girls Club will host its
annual Steak N’ Burger Dinner Thursday, August 14. Tables and individual
tickets are available. Former NBA star and U of M Tiger player Elliot Perry
will be the guest speaker. For more information and tickets, call
