When you hear church bells ringing Wednesday and the
sirens sounding at noon, think about your Constitutional rights and freedoms.
This “Ringing for Freedom” commemorates the 221st anniversary of
the signing of the Constitution. Learn more about the DAR and how
this local organization is celebrating this important event in history. Sunday begins Imagination Library Week in Tennessee.
Celebrate with Haywood County Reading Railroad by making sure all the
children you know under 5 are receiving their free book each month.
Application info is below. Leadership Haywood County introduced its new 2009 Class
at an Alumni Reception last night. I'm excited about these new members and
want to introduce them to you. Meet the Leadership Class of
2009. Scarecrow applications are beginning to come in for the annual
contest to be held on Oct. 11. Enter online, and
join the fun on the square beginning at 3 p.m. There will be live entertainment,
hot dogs, homemade ice cream and you can vote for your favorite
scarecrow, too. Car enthusiasts will be glad to know that this year’s festival will
also include the Annual Tennessee Trash Car Show Cruise-In Saturday, Oct. 18,
on the square and the show will be Sunday, Oct. 19, at the WOW/Elma Ross
Library. Another first for the festival is a Motorcycle Card Run (more
details to come). I hope you’ve already marked your calendar for the Hatchie
Fall Fest, October 18-19. The theme for this year's Christmas Parade is "Hometown Christmas." Now I know you can come up with something fun to enter that reflects your favorite memories of Christmas. The parade is December 6 and entry forms will be available soon. But you don't have to wait for the forms to start planning your entry. I know things are really beginning to get busy again, so
please submit your upcoming events for the community
calendar. ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog |
