Volume 4, Issue 36

Ever have one of those days when you just can’t get your mind to function correctly? Well, I’m having one of those weeks. I’m busy trying to make sure all my T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted for my part of the upcoming Hatchie Fall Fest, and I’m running out of hours. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining. At least not about the festival. My complaint is with myself and my inability to concentrate on more than one thing at a time. Some have told me it’s a sign of age. In reality, the festival is coming together nicely and this year’s event is growing by leaps and bounds. Every day I am updating the calendar of events and I hope you are checking it often and making plans to participate Saturday, Oct. 18-19.

Following the festival, the Exchange Club will once again present the “Field of Flags.” I know you remember how awesome this display is on our courthouse lawn. You can’t help but feel proud as you travel around the square. Purchase a flag in honor or memory of a loved one for $25. After the display, the flag and placard are yours to keep. Contact the chamber, 772-2193, for more info.

Cub Scout Pack #68 is selling Boston Butts to benefit the Park of Dreams. Pick-up date is Oct. 4. Butts must be pre-ordered. Call 731-772-2804 or 731-772-2806.

I’m saddened to hear that Kim Anthony, CEO of Haywood Park Community Hospital, is leaving us. Kim has been a great addition to our community and we will miss her.

The Brownsville Business Association (BBA) is busy planning events for the holidays. Among those are the annual Holiday Open House (Nov. 2), a special holiday mart-type event at the National Guard Armory (Nov. 14-16) and a big downtown shopping event on the Saturday of the Christmas Parade (Dec. 6). Go ahead and mark your calendar for these events and start making your Christmas shopping list.

Make sure I know about your upcoming events. Submit your events online.
