& Haywood County April 24, 2009 Volume
5, Issue 16 |
|
Are the days finally beginning to get warmer? Looks like we may go
from the heater to the air conditioner overnight. I noticed the Fire Department is having a car wash tomorrow at
Station No. 1, next to City Hall. It’s a Relay fundraiser and cost only $5.
This would be a good time to wash off all of that salt residue from winter. There are still lots of opportunities to eat during upcoming Relay
for Life fundraisers, too. Brownsville Utility Department will host a
hamburger/hot dog sale next Friday, May 1. Call before Tuesday to pre-order
your meal. Tomorrow night there is a fashion show and banquet hosted by Bluff
Creek Baptist Church at Carver, too, that will benefit Relay for Life. More
details, on both, are below. Everyone should be interested in this and especially if you have
children in the Haywood County School system. School Board member Daniel
Thornton will host a Listening Forum on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 1:30 in
the afternoon. Daniel says he will be there as long as anyone has something
to say. If you have concerns, suggestions or praises, this is the time to let
someone know. Communication is going to be the key to making sure our schools
are the best they can be. If you can’t attend or would just like to submit
your ideas in writing, see the calendar below for contact info. You’ll also notice in the calendar below there are two WRAP events
that are taking place in Jackson. I don’t normally include out of town events,
but I understand WRAP now has a local office and has been serving Haywood
County for some time, so I wanted you to be aware of these events. The calendar fills up quickly and there are lots of other things
going on in the next week. I’m sure you will find something below to peak
your interest. I hope you find this newsletter helpful in keeping you updated
and as a weekly reminder of the events you are interested in. Remember, I
can’t help get the word out if I don’t know about your events, so please keep
me posted. List your Community Event here! ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog List your Community Event here! |
