Awesome Christmas Parade!!!! If you missed this year's
parade, you missed a good one. Thirty-five entries. Lots of beautiful floats.
(I've posted a few pictures on the blog) The schools went
all out and the Board of Education placed first in the float competition. I
loved the float with all the handprint snowflakes. So creative. The Patriot
Guard motorcycle group rode and a few people had their golf carts decorated
for the occasion. Classic cars and trucks made a showing and the National
Guard was there, too. Just lots of fun. Oh, and did I mention Santa? Santa
arrived a little early and spent a few hours on the square that afternoon
visiting with kids and having his picture taken before being whisked off to
ride in the parade. Santa made a return appearance Monday night at College
Hill for Christmas at College Hill. Our grandson sang with the Haywood
Elementary group and did a great job. All the kids did. This is the Arts
Council's gift to the community and id always so enjoyable. Let me tell you, Brownsville is really rating this year
because Santa came back again on Tuesday night, in all that rain, to Insouth
Bank's Taste of Christmas. He posed for pictures and visited with all the
kids, but I think he really came back for some of that wonderful food that
was served, or could it have been the soothing sound of Alice McClanahan's
Marimba playing. Whatever it is, I'm glad Santa loves Brownsville as much as
we do. Get ready to visit downtown Stanton this Saturday for
their Christmas parade. It is always such fun and after a few years absence,
I'm glad to see it returning. I hear Santa is making plans to attend, too. The Christmas Basket fundraiser on Brownsville Radio was
a huge success with over $22,000 raised this year. On Tuesday afternoon,
$21,000 of this was already in the bank. Once again Haywood County's
generosity shines. Your contributions will put food on the table of many
local families who would otherwise have little or nothing. ~ Sonia Join the
