Volume 5, Issue 8

Wow, this has been a busy week. The Brownsville Business Association enjoyed a great program by Brownsville Mayor Webb Banks Tuesday evening. Mayor Banks presented the plans for the court square renovations and answered some questions. I have a photo of the plans and will try to get them online this weekend. I’ll leave a notice on the blog when it’s posted.

Tomorrow is a big day at Carver. David Lubin will be there to present his photos and talk about his trip to Brownsville in the 60s. Lubin’s program begins at 10 a.m., but you may also be interested in the other programs, too. Here is a complete schedule for the day.

Also a great turnout for the debut of “Rupture.” I bet over 200 people were on hand to greet our own Scott Pearson and congratulate him on his new book. It’s the first in a series and is available at Book-A-Million in Jackson, Tenn., or visit www.rupturenovel.com.

Deadline for getting one of the Portrait Packages ($9.95) from Lasco is this Wednesday, February 25. More details on calendar below. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life.

Also coming up is the annual Exchange Club/Carl Perkins Dinner and Auction. It’s planned for March 14, and tickets are available now. This year’s going western with the theme “Corral Child Abuse.”  Event and ticket details here.

Haywood Park Community Hospital is welcoming two new doctors who will be serving the Brownsville area beginning in March. Dr. Cedric Cooper, podiatrist, and Dr. Alexander Alperovich, cardiologist. Dr. Cooper will be located at the Brownsville Specialty Clinic. Call 1-877-784-3668 for an appointment. Dr. Alperovich is affiliated with Apex Cardiology in Jackson. Haywood County patients can schedule an appointment by calling 731-423-8200.
