All About Brownsville

January 9, 2009

Volume 5, Issue 2

I was so glad when I heard Brownsville Radio was broadcasting new Director of Schools Marlon King’s address on Monday. Unfortunately I did not get to hear much of it due to work related matters, but what I heard was very impressive. There seems to be a great deal of excitement generated from it and I know that can only mean good things for our school system. What are your thoughts? Visit the AAB Blog and let’s talk about it.

If you have a green thumb or would just like to try and cultivate one, the 2009 Master Gardener class dates have been announced and registration is open until January 22. Read more here.

You know the Hatchie Fall Fest is something near and dear to my heart and I am excited that a new planning year is about to begin. The first meeting is planned for this Monday, January 12, 5:30 p.m., at the Wyatt Duke National Guard Armory on Morgan St. Our festival is a very important part of this community and is only possible through generous sponsors and great volunteers, like you. Please join me Monday night and bring a friend. Everyone is invited.

Thank you for sending your 2009 events. At one point I had thought 2009 might not be as filled with events as in the past, but your contributions are quickly showing me I am wrong. Keep those event listings coming and I’ll keep updating as often as possible.

If you’ve been following the AAB Blog, you know I made a resolution to make no resolutions. However I did set a few goals for the year. I know, “goal” “resolution,” what’s the difference? There really are none, but setting a goal seems much more achievable to me. More of a concrete thing that has to be done. Anyway, I actually have gotten started on my goal of being more organized. In the last few days I have managed to go from 1150 e-mails in my inbox to a mere 365. I call that progress.
