All About Brownsville

& Haywood County

January 30, 2009

Volume 5, Issue 5

I’ve been busy making updates to the website. Everyday it seems I learn about new Brownsville-related sites - some business and some personal. I hope you are checking out the Business and Service Directory often for new listings. Of particular interest to you may be the newest list of blogs by local people. I’ve also put local blog links on the Brownsville Blog site. If you have a site that is not listed, or know about one, please e-mail me.

When Lt. Diebold, of the Brownsville Police Department, emailed me this week I had no idea that Super Bowl Sunday is this Sunday, February 1. I’m sure he is still laughing at me. (I didn’t dare ask him who’s playing.) But he has some very important information to pass along, and even though I will not be watching the game with you, I do hope you will be safe and responsible and enjoy. Read more here.

If you own or operate a business in Brownsville or Haywood County, you will not want to miss this seminar. “Survival Tips for Small Business” will focus on specific things you can do to keep afloat in this economy. It is being offered two times, once at noon and again at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Chamber. Call 731-772-2193 to register.

Brownsville Homecoming II happens tomorrow night, Saturday. If you don’t already have tickets, go by Insouth Bank, Livingston’s, or get them at the door. Only you might not want to depend on the door, tickets sell out quickly for this event.

The Hatchie Fall Fest has a new website, and vendor applications are now available. Check it out at www.hatchiefallfest.com. And if you are interested in helping plan this year’s event, please join us on Monday, Feb. 5. E-mail me for more information.

Even though it has already begun, it’s still not too late to sign up for this year’s Master Gardener class. Register before Feb. 5. Call 731-772-2861 for details.

And don’t forget about the King & Queen of Hearts Pageant to benefit the Humane Society next Saturday, February 7 (details below).
