A big bash will be taking place
Saturday at College Hill. The Tennessee Trash-Bash Cruizin is expecting over
150 classic, hot rods and other street machines to attend this day-long event
that will feature a Poker Run and entertainment from 2-6 p.m. There will be
concessions and lots of fun. Organizers are making plans for this to be an
annual event. Since most of the cars will be from out-of-town, this is our
chance to show off our community, so let’s give them our support. Learn more about the Cruizin. Not that you would ever drink
and drive, but be aware that the Brownsville Police Department and Haywood
County Sheriff’s Department have a saturation planned for this weekend. It’s
all part of the “Drive Drunk – Get Nailed” campaign going on statewide. I
keep looking for the pick-up with the 10-foot nail sticking out of the hood
to show up in Brownsville. Learn more details here. Relay for Life if coming up on Friday, August 7. Wouldn’t it be
wonderful if the weather holds out like this until then? Are you ready for school to start? Two local drives for school
supplies are going on right now. First, the Carl Perkins Center for the
Prevention of Child Abuse is accepting donations of money or supplies to help
their families get ready. Many cannot afford the items their children need
and the center asks the community to help with this each year. Drop items off
at the Center on Boyd Avenue, or call for more information, 731-772-8378. The other school supply drive is the Bust the Bus event that will happen
at Relay on the 7th. Bring your donated item to help fill the bus
that night. School supply lists are also available at Wal-Mart. I don’t know if tickets are still available for the Hatchie Goes
Country Dinner theater next week at Brownsville Baptist Church or not. They
always sell out so quickly. Call the church, 731-772-9753, to find out and
reserve your seat if any are left. If you are an arts and crafts vendor and interested in setting up at
the Hatchie Fall Fest October 17, time is running out to get the reduced rate
for the space. Prices will go from $30 to $45 on August 1. Go to www.hatchiefallfest.com, print an application and get
it in quickly. Over 60 vendors have already signed up. I’ve seen the list and
there seems to be a lot more variety in the items being offered this year. I
understand entertainment will be finalized within the next week or so and
I’ll let you know all about that as soon as it’s available. ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog If you have an event coming up that isn’t listed on the Calendar, e-mail details to sonia@outlawdesignmarketing.com. |
