Great turn out for the Tennessee Trash-Bash Cruizin last Saturday.
Loved the old cars sitting on the lawn at College Hill. Looked like they
belonged there. Organizers tell me that more than 120 cars were on display.
The final count on how much was raised was not available today. Hope to have
those figures next week. Tuesday, August 4, is National Night Out. Neighborhoods across
America will be celebrating and the City of Brownsville and Ward 2 invites
you to East Side school practice fields for a night of fun, food, learning
about crime prevention and getting to know your neighbor. The fun starts at 6
p.m. It’s so hard to believe that July is over (well, almost) and school
will be starting in another week. The public is invited to hear Director of
Schools Marlon King speak this Wednesday morning at 8:30 at the high school.
He’ll be giving his State of the School address and a business fair will also
be available for you to peruse before the speech and during breaks. Relay for Life is rescheduled for Friday, August 7. There will be
lots of special activities going on during this event, so make your plans now
to attend. Martin Dance Studio will also be conducting their fall registration
that day from 2-7 at the WOW Building. DU’s annual membership Banquet will be held Thursday, August 13 at
the First United Methodist Church. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available
by calling Stephen Leath, 731-780-7024 or Taylor Butterworth, 731-780-5418.
Ticket includes a one-year membership and proceeds go to support wetland
conservation. March of Dimes Breakfast for Babies is coming up Thursday, August
27, from 6-10 a.m. at RJ’s Hibachi. “Celebrity” waiters will serve, including
Senator Dolores Gresham, and all tips and 10% of breakfast will go to the
March of Dimes. Two –year-olds Parker and Harrison Green, the 2009 Haywood
County Ambassadors and twin sons of LeAnna Parker Green, will be on hand to
greet you. Mark your calendar. ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog If you have an event coming up that isn’t listed on the Calendar, e-mail details to sonia@outlawdesignmarketing.com. |
