Have you entered the Scarecrow Contest this weekend on
the square? If not, here’s your last chance to do so. Complete this online application and get your scarecrow up on
the courthouse lawn before 5 p.m. Saturday. You could win $100! The Annual Christmas Parade entry form is now online,
too. Download it now and get your entry in early.
This year’s theme is “What Christmas Means to Me.” Halloween is coming up, too, and if you want a safe
place to take your kid’s trick or treating, consider “Trick or Treat with Me.”
Area merchants will stay open late so kids can enjoy traditional trick or
treating. More info and participating
businesses. If you are an animal lover, you may be interested in
giving a cat a good home. She is a long-haired Calico who has been spayed and
de-clawed. She’d make someone a great pet. If you are interested, shoot me an
e-mail (sonia@outlawdesignmarketing.com). It’s almost time for UT Extension’s annual Holiday
Extravaganza. This is a fun event where you learn, hands on, how to make
great (inexpensive) holiday crafts, decorations and recipes. It’s planned for
Saturday, October 24, and fills up fast. Cost is $15 and deadline to sign-up
is October 20. Call 731-772-2861. We have a new funeral home opening up in Brownsville Lea
& Simmons Funeral Home is hosting an open house this Sunday to give you a
first look at the facility. They’re located on the bypass, 1280 South Dupree)
and the open house is from 2-5 p.m. Did you know the Brownsville Police Department has a
website? Me neither, until Lt. Barry Diebold told me about it. Check out: www.brownsvillepolicedepartment.org The Masonic Lodge has been busy lately getting ready for their annual grading. Here’s a picture of the officers and more information. I’m sure you know how involved I am with the Hatchie
Fall Fest, so the next two weeks of AAB will no doubt be filled with HFF
info. To begin with, I am excited to tell you that the 30th Annual
Tennessee Trash Car Show has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 18. It was
rained out this past Sunday, and now will extend festival activities another
day. Athletes will be interested in participating in the Walk
MS event this weekend and again on October 31 at the Marla Angotti Memorial Race. If you want to get the whole
family involved, try the Family Relay Event next Saturday morning at the
Football Field. It’s sponsored by the YMCA, and will get you warmed up for a
day at the festival. And if walking or running isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll
want to try your hand at baking or chili making. There are lots of contests,
cooking and eating planned for the festival, plus the frozen t-shirt contest,
the pet show and lots more. This weekend and the next full of fun things to
do. Check out the full festival schedule of events at www.hatchiefallfest.com. I don’t have a picture of the 2009 Hatchie Fall Fest
t-shirt yet, but I will have them for sale this Saturday from 4-6 p.m., on
the courthouse lawn during the scarecrow contest. Cost is $10 and we have
three colors to choose from this year: orange, green and white. I’ll try to
get a picture posted on the AAB Blog soon, so keep a look out. ~ Sonia Join the
