30th Annual Tennessee Trash Car Show

This year will mark the 30th anniversary for the Tennessee trash Car Show in Brownsville. The event will take place Sunday, October 18. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and judging will begin at noon. the event will take place at the WOW/Elma Ross Public Library. Entry fee is $25 per car and all proceeds will benefit the Haywood County Multiple Disability Class. For more information, contact Tim Sills, 731-780-6061 or Wayne McCool, 731-772-9276.

Toddler Time at the Library

Toddler time at the Elma Ross Public Library will be held Monday October 19, at 11 a.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their toddlers and enjoy lots of stories, songs, puppets, crafts and a snack.

 

Tuesday, October 20

 

Habitat House Dedication

Everyone is invited to join the celebration and dedication of Mary Minor’s new home off Rev. Hill Lane. This is the ninth Habitat for humanity house in Haywood County and the dedication is at 5 p.m.

 

BBA Meeting

The Brownsville Business Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 20, 5:30 p.m., in the Delta Room behind Backyard Barbecue, 703 East Main St. Everyone is invited. For more information about the BBA, visit www.shopbrownsvilletn.com.

 

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4838

Monthly meeting of veterans who have fought in foreign wars to conduct business and plan for future events that involve veterans or veteran's programs. Meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, at the Hibachi Restaurant on Dupree St. For more information, please contact Commander Ray Dixon at 731-772-0400.

Stew Luncheon at Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation will host a Relay for Life fundraiser on Thursday, October 22. Stew will be available for $23 a gallon or eat-in or carry out for $7. Bring your own container for gallon purchases. To place an order (they will deliver for 5 orders or more), call 772-6693 or fax 779-0140. All delivery orders must be made before October 19.  Plate includes, stew, crackers, dessert and drink. Proceeds to benefit Relay for Life.

2009 Holiday Extravaganza

It's time for UT Extensions annual Holiday Extravaganza. The event will be held Saturday, October 24, 9:30 -11:30 am., at the Tennessee Technology Center - Brownsville Campus, 401 Morgan St. Space is very limited. Pre-registration is required. Registration fee is $15 and is due by Oct. 20. Learn easy ways to create decorating ideas for the holidays, inexpensive crafts to celebrate the season and delicious, simple recipes to nourish. Special guest presenter will be Chris Pipkins, Floral Department Manager Trees and Trends, Jackson, Tenn. Miss Hatchie Pageant

Miss Hatchie 2010 will be crowned at the Miss Hatchie Pageant Saturday, October 24, beginning at 10 a.m. Girls up to age 21 will compete in 9 age categories. A queen adn four alternates will be chosen. Pre-register before October 21 to receive a 10% discount. Entry forms available at www.hatchiefallfest.com/contests/09hatchiepageant.pdf.

 

Zion Baptist Church Stew

Zion Baptist Church will host its annual stew on Saturday, October 24, beginning at 11 a.m. Eat-in plates will include stew, dessert and drink for $5, stew by the gallon is $18. BBQ chicken will also be available. New this year is a Country Store, featuring homemade food items and crafts. Everything in the store is homemade. Proceeds will benefit Missions.

 

Union Grove UMC Annual Stew

Union Grove United Methodist Church Annual Stew will be held Saturday, October 24 beginning at noon. Stew is $20 per gallon and containers are provided. Pre-orders Only! Call 772-4167 or 772-2639 to place an order; or e-mail.
