First, if you are a member of the Class of '84, you
probably already know that I goofed last week and wrongly listed your Friday
night as a tailgate party at the football field. I have corrected that and
hope you enjoy your evening at The Tent. Are you ready for this year's Hatchie Fall Fest
Scarecrow Contest? I hope so. If you've not gotten your entry form in yet,
there's still time. Enter online. If you are cruising around the All About Brownsville
website you'll see a new feature - Brownsville's Most Wanted Fugitives. This is a program of the
Brownsville Police Department and gives the community a chance to help the police.
The postings will be updated on a regular basis, so be sure and keep an eye
out for those listed and if you have information, call Crimestoppers. We have a few walks coming up in October - March for
Babies on the 3rd, Walk MS on the 10th and the Marla Angotti Memorial 5K/10K
Race on the 31st. Be sure and check out the October Calendar for more details. And speaking of Halloween, kids and adults will be glad
to know that Trick or Treak with Me is scheduled for Friday, October 30, from
4-6, at participating merchants. This event, sponsored by the Brownsville
Business Association, provides children with a safe environment for trick or
treating. If you are a business and want to particiapte in this year's event,
send me an e-mail or call. Another BBA sponsored event is the annual Holiday in
Haywood. This year's event is November 13-15. Retail vendors are being
accepted now. Download an application. An event for the Haywood County March of Dimes campaign
is taking place next weekend, Sept. 26, at the Downtown Tavern in Jackson.
Owner of the tavern is Molly Parker Cole and she is the aunt of the Green
twins, our 2009 March of Dimes Ambassadors. Another local addition to the
event will be gumbo by Haywood Park's John Kight. Twenty Four VII is the band
for the night and a portion of all proceeds will go to March of Dimes. Next week I'll be participating as a vendor at a
festival in Camden. I'll let you know how it goes when we talk again on
October 1st. I tried to mention events that I know about for the next two
weeks so you stay up to speed while I'm away. Hope I didn't forget anything. ~ Sonia Join the
