I'm writing this week's newsletter from the 11th floor
of the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville. It has been a great week. I have
met lots of really interesting people and learned a lot about the museum
industry. And, I have to brag a little about the Heritage Center -
attendance has topped 1,200 for the month of March. Master Gardeners and HHS
volunteers have been busy sprucing up Sleepy John's house and will begin to
work on landscape plans soon. It's looking really good. Also, if you didn't
get a chance to check out last Sunday's Jackson Sun, go here to read an
article about the Center. By the way, how much do you know about the West Tenn.
Delta Heritage Center? Tune in to Brownsville Radio 95.3 FM tomorrow morning
at 8. Jerry Wilson, John Gallaspy and I will be hosting the Friday Trivia
Show. It was a sad day in Brownsville last Thursday with the
crash of the Wings helicopter. This morning and until 7 p.m. tonight,
Brownsville Radio and Channel 7 will host a fundraiser for the families of
the three who lost their lives in this crash. They are asking that donations
be brought to Donnie Hatcher's on North Washington. I believe both stations
will be on hand and broadcasting from there throughout the day. First State Bank is having an Ice Cream Sale Friday,
April 2. All proceeds will benefit Relay for Life and the event will be held
at the Bank at 25 South Grand. Brownsville/Haywood County Parks & Recreation
Department recently announced its sponsorship of the 2010 Summer Food Service
Program (SFSP), which is administered in Tennessee by the Department of Human
Services under an agreement with the Department of Agriculture (USDA). Meals
will be provided to all children 18 and under, without charge. Acceptance and
participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same
for all regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or
disability. Any and all persons interested in participating may call the Parks
& Recreation Office at (731) 772-6693 or go by 100 Boyd Avenue for more
information. Don't forget the Brownsville Fire Department's Boston Butt sale for Relay. Sunday is the last day to place your order. Haywood's Got Talent is fast approaching. Auditions are
Wednesday, April 7. See below for details and "get your act
together." It's going to be a lot of fun - and the winner gets to
perform at the Hatchie Fall Fest in October. ~ Sonia Join the Conversation: AAB Blog |
